How are seats and classes handled?

Each train has coaches, each coach has a seat map, and each class carries its own price and rules. Passengers choose a seat or are allocated one automatically, and groups can be seated together at the point of sale rather than reshuffled on the platform.

Because inventory is per seat, a service cannot be oversold whether the ticket came from your website, the booking office or a coach-tour partner.

Can I price by route leg?

Yes. Journeys are built from stations and legs, so a passenger travelling half the line pays for half the line, and the seat is released for the remainder to be sold again. Return, rover and multi-stop journeys follow the same model.

How are dining and event trains sold?

Afternoon tea, dining cars, Santa specials and gala weekends are configured as fare products with their own capacity, seating and add-ons such as meal choices or dietary notes. Those choices reach catering in the pre-departure report rather than being handwritten on the day.

Onboard, conductors scan tickets from a phone with the manifest cached locally, so validation keeps working through cuttings and tunnels. Post-departure, occupancy and revenue report per service, per class and per product.
